A good name is rather to be chosen, and loving favour rather than silver and gold

While visiting with my friend today, he told me the story of a man that repaired his new John Deere. He was in a local restaurant having lunch and the owner asked him about the repairs and who had done the work for him. My friend replied with the man’s name and the owner told him, “You have the most sought after man in the county. His work is outstanding and his integrity above reproach. People from all over are in line for this man’s expertise.”

What a tribute to this man’s character! Scripture teaches that “A good name is rather to be chosen, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.” Proverbs 22:1

My friend has that same integrity. He is well loved and thought of throughout this county and beyond. He had worked for Safeway 43 years and was married almost 60. I have known him five years, and I can certainly say that his integrity also is above reproach.

He came into the Lord’s church at 85 years of age, having been a Methodist all of his life. Sprinkled at birth. Those three words, “Sprinkled at birth” and my showing the error of that doctrine brought him to Christ. He had an open and honest heart and studied the Scriptures to see if what I was teaching was Truth. “Judge me, O Lord; for I have walked in mine integrity; I have trusted also in the Lord; therefore I shall not slide.” Psalms 26:1

“Watch your thoughts for they become words.
Watch your words for they become actions.
Watch your actions for they become habits.
Watch your habits for they become your character.”
