My friend called late this morning and we had in interesting conversation about “biscuits.” One of his favorite breakfast meals is biscuits, sausage and syrup, along with his two cups of coffee. He was quite humorous, telling me about the biscuits he bought from Walmart. His “Great Value” biscuits were not such a “great value” after all. He told me they were as tasteless as sawdust and didn’t rise. They were like eating biscuit jerky, tougher than boot leather. They no longer had his Pillsbury biscuits which he was used to buying. I told him it was precisely why I no longer shopped with Walmart. They have eliminated many of the products I once bought. Their store label has taken over and there are no longer any choices, but I had one.
Some stores try got cut corners. Such also happens in religion. Any deviation from God’s pattern in His word is contrary to His will.
“Buy the Truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.” (Proverbs 23:23)
“Every perverter of the Gospel stands condemned in the sight of God. Consistency with God’s goodness requires that He reveal the Truth so plainly that every teacher can state it clearly to others in the same degree of simplicity in which it was first written by the pen of inspiration. The Almighty would not place a man under anathema for perverting a complicated message so mystical and confusing in its construction as to be beyond the power of human beings to understand.” ~ Douthitt
“But though we, or an angel from heaven should preach unto you any Gospel other than that which we preached unto you, let him be anathema.” (Galatians 1:8-9)
Quality matters in goods and services and truth matters in our service to God. May we remain firm to the foundation of His Word.
“Cutting corners no doubt makes the job easier for the government, but making the government’s job easier is rarely a priority. Preserving the Constitution, fighting off the nibblers and chippers, even nibblers and chippers with good intentions, was once regarded by conservatives as the first duty of the citizen. It still is.” ~ Pruden
