In The Same Boat

“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some count slackness; but is longsuffering to you-ward, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9, ASV).

Many are blaming God for the pandemic. Why? Why not blame Satan? They say, “God allowed this to happen.” That is true, for God is in control. I don’t blame God; I blame Satan and the fallen state of our world.

God probably didn’t cause the pandemic, but He can use it for good. Historians tell us that early Christians ministered to others who were afflicted, and they spread the gospel through their services. We can do the same.

God can use this illness to turn others to Him. Americans have been given riches and luxuries that are not abundant in other parts of the world. Many people have everything they need, and they do not want or need God. Perhaps they think God’s laws prohibis the “fun things” they want to do. They think only of the moment and are not concerned about going to heaven.

Now is the time to wake up our family members, our friends, and our neighbors to the urgency of their soul’s salvation. Perhaps they will realize that their hold on this world is tenuous and they will come to their senses and seek God.

One hears so often, “We are all in the same boat.” Yes, we are all in the same boat spiritually. We are all sinners (Romans 3:23), and we are all doomed without God. We need God desperately, for our eternal life depends on hearing and obeying His Word.

Maybe God is extending the time until Jesus comes and is giving the impetus for all to come to Him. I believe our Father is telling us to spread His Word, and He is giving others reasons to seek Him. Let us be His disciple and go.

Hymn: “Seeking the Lost”

Prayer: Heavenly Father, lead us to others that we may give them Your good news. Please help us be of service. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
