Biblical Homes – “Protected”

How many of us feel as David did in the following?  Most likely all of us.  Every day brings a new lesson, and sometimes those lessons are painful.  We feel abandoned, alone, scared and discouraged with besetting problems.  Things didn’t turn out for us as we had wished.  I came across this lesson and believed it would benefit all who read these words and be comforted.   ~ E.L.

“The hidden ones were the people of God whom He was protecting and keeping safe from their enemies.”

God has always hidden and protected His people, even when they did not know it.  Yet, there are times when we want to flay away:  get away from the grind, the greed the superficiality of a society that aches because of its self-caused pains.  This  craving of the soul for a place of concealment was expressed by the psalmist in beautiful language:

“Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then I would fly away, and be at rest”   Psalms 55:6.

What we really want to get away from is not the here but the strain of what’s here.  We are beset by problems.  We feel so alone, so vulnerable, so unprotected.  Friends forget us and fail us.  Our time and energies are overtaxed.  The road is rocky and the way is hazy.

Be we must not lose heart!  God continues to shelter and shield His children, if we would only accept His refuge and His goodness.  So in the poetic wording of David, let us pray:

“Keep me as the apple of the eye;  hide me under the shadow of Thy wings.”        Psalms 17:8

“Fear thou not;  for I Am with thee:  be not dismayed;  for I Am thy God:  I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right  hand of My righteousness.”    Isaiah 41:10

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress:  my God; in Him will I trust.”    Psalms 91:1-2

“The fear of the Lord tendeth to life:  and he that hath it shall abide satisfied;  he shall not be visited with evil.”    Proverbs 19:23

“But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.”    II Thessalonians 3:3

“For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the Lord;  I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.”   Psalms 12:5

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”     Psalms 46:1

“But our biggest regrets are not for the things we did, but for the things we didn’t do, things we didn’t say that could have saved someone we care about.”       ~ Scott
