Drugs

If you want to waste your life and affect those around you, especially your family and the ultimate loss of your soul, then get involved with drugs, be it the abuse of prescription drugs or illegal drugs.

Prescription drugs are wonderful when one needs them for pain from surgery, diseases or injuries.  Several of these drugs are in the narcotic family.  Meth seems to be the drug of choice for several and users will stop at nothing to get money for another “fix.”

We once had a customer who was on drugs.  He was a young man who inherited land, cattle and a great amount of money.   I recall three specific occasions while we were at his ranch when he was high on drugs.  Later we found he was under surveillance by the authorities and eventually he was sent to prison for two years.  He came back only to again get involved with illegal drugs.  He cursed, talked ugly to his wife, kicked his dog, and abused his cattle.  If all this was not enough, he started verbally abusing my husband and I didn’t tolerate anyone doing that.  We packed our tools and went home.  We never were paid for our work, nor did we ever return, but it didn’t matter; my husband and my son meant more to me than money.  There is no excuse for this kind of behavior in anyone, but this is what happens when one is on illegal drugs.  The brain does not function properly.

If you believe you do not affect others, think again.  You will affect your family for the rest of their lives and beyond, whether you want to believe that or not.  You may steal to provide for your habit.  You may leave your children in the wake of your madness, losing them forever.  You will also destroy your soul.

As with alcohol, illegal drugs and the abuse of prescription drugs fall under the guideline of Scripture about being sober minded.

“Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.”     I Corinthians 6:10

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devout: . . . .”   I Peter 5:8

“Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Christ.; . . . .”     I  Peter 1:13

“Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; . . . . . Titus 2:12

“That aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.”      Titus 2:2

“The moment you give up your principles, and your values, you are dead, your culture is dead, your civilization is dead.  Period.”      ~ Italian Journalist

  1. Street drugs are a curse to the nation, but they’re are other Rx drugs these days that are just as bad or worse. I had a friend who was being treated for shoulder pain after an accident. I say “had” because he and his wife no longer want any association with me or my husband. He became addicted to the drug prescribed for his pain and is no longer rational. His condition reminds me of yesterday’s article about the little old lady in the nursing home. He hates church members without a cause. He tells lies about people and challenges them fight. Seeing a Christian fall away is beyond sad. They once were enlightened and have tasted the the heavenly gift… (Heb. 6:4). Because of a Rx for pain they are destroyed.

STAY WELL, DO GOOD AND SEEK WISDOM. ALSO REMEMBER: 1 John 2:4-6
