Geeps

“And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.”    Mark 3:25

“No man can serve two masters:  for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.  Ye cannot serve God and mammon.”    Matthew 6:24

“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell:  but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”    Joshua 24:15

“And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions?  If the Lord be God, then follow Him:  but if Baal, then follow him.  And the people answered him not a word.”    I Kings 18:21

“But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the gold image which thou hast set up.”     Daniel 3:18

“Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God, and serve Him, and shalt swear by His name.”    Deuteronomy 6:13

“And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind Me, Satan:  for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve.”    Luke 4:8

“And before Him shall be gathered all nations:  and He shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats.”    Matthew 25:32

We must choose.  A halfhearted allegiance to God is no allegiance at all.  It is a miserable state to be in when one’s heart is divided.  We are either in or we are out, there is no other choice.

“Well, in my judgment, they have not accomplished anything!  A group of scientists in Cambridge, England, have produced a cross between a sheep and a goat.  You guessed
it – they named this poor creature “geep.”  It looks like a goat with long hair, cannot reproduce itself, and mingles and hobnobs with both sheep and goats.  Being a cross, it doesn’t know where it belongs.

What an unfortunate predicament!

Many people in the world, however, should be quite pleased with this freak, because it represents exactly their view of religion.  Not all out for God and not all out for Satan.  A cross between the two.  They want to be “geeps,” half goat and half sheep.

Jesus made a clear distinction between goats and sheep. This line of recognition and separation will become even more pronounced at the judgment.  The very nature of serving God does not permit a divided allegiance.

“He that is not with Me is against Me.”

“These Words ring in our ears and put us in one camp or the other.  Of course, all are subject to temptation and sometimes yield (Peter did) but the general behavior is such that we are as distinguishable as light, salt and sheep.”  ~ Leroy Brownlow

Definitely, there can be no “geep” servant of God.”

“Satan Rushes you.  Frightens you.  Pushes you.  Confuses you.  Condemns you.  Stresses you.  Discourages you.  Worries you.

God Stills you, Reassures you.  Leads you.  Enlightens you.  Forgives you.  Calms you. Encourages you.  Comforts you.”      ~ Unknown
