God’s wisdom versus the wisdom of the world.

God’s Word is supposed to be our “go to” guide for our decisions, spiritual direction, instruction, and righteousness.  Taking matters into our hands and desiring to do things our way gets us into trouble as illustrated by several passages.

“Oh Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself:  it is not in man, that walketh to direct his steps O Lord, correct me, but with judgment;  not in thine anger, lest Thou bring me to nothing.”     Jeremiah 10:23-24

“But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.”  James 3:17

“The way of a fool is right in his own eyes:  but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.”      Proverbs 12:15

“A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: . . . .”      Proverbs 1:5

“Without counsel purposes are disappointed:  but in the multitude of counselors they are established.”    Proverbs 15:22

“A man’s heart deviseth his way:  but the Lord directeth his steps.”    Proverbs 16:9

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour”     I Peter 5:8

“My son, if thou wilt receive My Words, and hide My commandments with thee; So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;  Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;  If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasure;  Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.”      Proverbs 2:1-5

“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom:  and with all thy getting get understanding.”     Proverbs 4:7

May we always seek His wisdom and counsel in all we do, and follow His pattern in all things.  His way is best, always and forever.
