While sitting in a doctor’s office, waiting on my friend, and reading a book, my eyes glanced over at a magazine. I read a caption about a survey of women from 1985 and their views, as compared to 2015. Above some of the statistics was a verse out of God’s Word.

“How are the mighty fallen, and the weapons of war perished.” II Samuel 1:27

Thinking within myself while reading that verse, I thought how odd, that a worldly magazine would deign to even mention Scripture at all. They had a number of statistics. I am highlighting some of the stats here.
1985 – 62% Of Women Drank Alcohol – 2015 – 76%

1985 – 25% Of Women Over Indulge In Alcohol – 2015 – 36%

“Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.” Proverbs 20:1

“Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes? They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine. Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder.” Proverbs 23:29-32

1985 – Men and women living together without marriage – 21% – 2015 – 25%

“Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.” I Corinthians 6:18

“Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.” Proverbs 31:10

More than 1/3 of women now over indulge in drinking.

1985 – Do women in 2015 have a lot of confidence in Central Institutions? I have only named one institution, the church, though they used that term as an umbrella to cover all religious organizations.

1985 – Church was important – 69% – 2015 – 41%

1985 – 18% of women believed marijuana should be legal. 2015 – 48% believe marijuana should be legal.

1985 – 44% of women believed sex before marriage was wrong. 2015 – 24% now believe sex before marriage is wrong.

I failed to write down their Number One Worry today, but I believe the number was 51% of women worried about making more money in their careers.

The numbers don’t lie. “How are the mighty fallen?” The Scripture said it all.

“What has history said of eminence without honor, wealth without wisdom, power and possessions without principle? The answer is reiterated in the overthrow of the mightiest empires of ancient times. Babylon, Persia, Greece, Rome. The four successive universal powers of the past. What and where are they?”
