A nation is only as strong as her people. We can be no stronger than the foundation upon which we build. If we build on the rock solid foundation of God’s Word and adhere to His ways, our nation will be on the right path. However, if we go back to old personal habits, we will surely wind up as the foolish man in the parable when he built a house on the sand. It is up to individuals to build a strong nation. If we demand higher standards in personal behavior, then we will have higher standards. Conversely, if we choose to take the low road, we will reap the benefits of debauchery.
The immutable law of God is sowing and reaping, whether in our personal lives, our businesses, our states, or our nation. No one is exempt from God’s law.
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.” (Galatians 6:7-9)
“Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the Lord.” (Psalm 144:15)
“Happy or blessed is the people whose God is Jehovah, a people who worship and serve Him. The religion of God is constituted and adapted to make a happy people. It gives peace and quietude. God provides a hope that keeps one persevering. He teaches the principles of prosperity and happiness: work, diligence, thrift, love and goodwill. His way guards one from bitterness and strife, freeing his energies to go into a productive life.
The good life is no accident. It is produced by a cause – God’s directives.
The best security for any nation is adherence to God’s plan. A remembrance of God has always prospered nations. The nations that forget Him and regress may destroy themselves.
A friend of mine had a car with a transmission defect. It would run; it would move, but it always went in reverse. It burned up energy to go the wrong way. This illustration aptly describes a people that forgets God. They are moving backwards to destruction. Their own forgetfulness of God withholds from them the happy life.” ~Leroy Brownlow
“Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you.” (Jeremiah 5:25)
“If you are waiting on a knight or a knightess to ride in on a white horse and change whatever you think ails our country or your school, or your community or your family, it’s not going to happen. You know who the messenger is? It’s you.” ~ Trey Gowdy
