Yesterday, I heard the following statement, and it’s not the first time I have heard it, and I’m quite sure you have heard it too. “Well…….. all we can do is pray.” I have said it myself, not thinking of what I was actually saying in regard to prayer, until…….one day I focused on the statement and wondered how that sounded to our Father.
I have thought about it many times, and it is as though we don’t believe in prayer. When we have tried everything else…….. on our own……. then…….we go to our Father in prayer, and it is far too easy to be distracted when troubles come our way to forget one of the greatest blessings a faithful child of God has, an avenue to Him to address all that concerns our hearts. It is where we gain strength and comfort. Prayer lightens our hearts from everyday burdens, calms our fears and He provides what is best for us in those prayers. He loves His children, cares for them. He gave His only Son. That is the power of His love toward us.
“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another that ye may be healed. the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” James 5:16
“Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” I Thessalonians 5:17-18
“Men ought always to pray, and not to faint.” Luke 18:1
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
There is no night so dark, nor burden so heavy that He cannot help His faithful child. He wants to hear from His children, and all that concerns them in this temporal world. He is our Comfort, Help, Lifts Our Heads, Dries Our Tears, Cheers Our Hearts, Calms Our Fears, and our Provider.
“Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither His ear heavy, that it cannot hear:……..” Isaiah 59:1
I didn’t know what “Abba Father” meant, but was told at one time, it meant “Father”. ….then I heard a sermon regarding the word “Abba.” It is an Aramaic word, most closely translated “Daddy.” A term used by a children addressing their earthly father. It is a term that signifies the most intimate relationship with God and His faithful child. How wonderful that is! His Mediator, His Son, addressing our concerns to Him. Remarkable! Extremely comforting!
“And He said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto Thee: take away this cup from Me: nevertheless not what I will, but what Thou wilt.” Mark 14:36
“Prayer is a pouring out of the deepest and truest feelings, a communication of spirit with Spirit, that is what prayer is.” Leroy Brownlow
The chief factor is the heart. Putting our heart into our prayers.
“I cried with my whole heart; hear me, O Lord: I will keep Thy statutes.” Psalms 119:145
“We tend to use prayer as a last resort, but God wants it to be our first line of defense. We pray when there is nothing else we can do, but God wants us to pray before we do anything at all Most of us would prefer however, to spend our time doing something that will get immediate results. We don’t want God to resolve matters in His good time because His idea of ‘good time’ is seldom in sync with ours.” ~Oswald Chambers
