There will be times in our lives which will call for uncompromising conviction, and because a principle may be involved or Biblical Truth, we may very well have to stand alone. But we are not alone, we just think we are. God is on the side of the righteous person. All through Scripture you can see God’s providence for His people. His nature has not changed in regard to His faithful children today.
“Daniel answered, “may the king live forever! My God sent His angel, and He shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in His sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, Your Majesty.” Daniel 6:2-11
“Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, Who hath sent His angel, and delivered His servants that trusted in Him, and have changed the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.” Daniel 3:28
I remember having read a passage from the book “Pioneer Women.” Voices from the Kansas Frontier – Joanna Stratton. It is a true story about wolves and the damage they can do. ….and there are two legged wolves who would be willing to invade homes, businesses, states, nations and churches as well.
“After that the wolves were more determined than ever to get in. One got his head in between the door casing and as he was trying to wriggle through, mother struck him in the head with an axe and killed him. I shot one coming through the window. After that they quieted down for about half an hour, they came back again. I stepped out and fired at two of them, but I only wounded one. Their howling was awful. We fought these wolves five nights in succession, during which time we killed and wounded four wolves and two coyotes. When Mr. Johnson arrived home and found his wife dead and his house badly torn down by wolves he fainted away. . . .After the funeral he sold out and moved away.”
“Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.” Matthew 10:16

“When I was a boy we burned wood. Those cold winters required a lot of it. I, with the help of a hired hand, had to cut it from standing trees. My helper was an old man, wise and overflowing with practicality. His name was Fred. One day as we were getting ready to fell a tree, Fred said, “You see that tree. You see that axe. Just cut wood and let the chips fly.”
That’s what I did that day, and that’s what I’ve tried to do ever since – “cut wood and let the chips fly.”
This philosophy requires one to preach the Gospel, or do his job whatever it is, or speak Truth, or uphold the right, and let the consequences take care of themselves. It requires fearlessness, forthrightness and uncompromise. And these qualities are essential if one would have the respect of the people. For the world is not going to follow the person which is not seen in this light. Wishy-washy people are never esteemed. Nobody can lead others while riding a merry-go-round, for he has no convictions on where he wants to go.
In making decisions, we should not be moved by what is popular, but by what is right. In keeping with this spirit, Henry Clay said, “Sir, I would rather be right than President.” And the Apostle Paul requested the Ephesians to pray for him to “speak boldly, as I ought to speak” Ephesians 6:18-20 ~ Leroy Brownlow
