How many of us have not had a broken heart? This is a wonderful spiritual blessing given of God for those who are faithful to Him.
Many times in our lives we will experience pain of all kinds, from the death of a spouse, child, relative, the loss of a job, loss of health, etc.
Heartaches cannot be mended with medicine, only God can which medicine cannot soothe. It is in prayer when we are frightened, alone and scared we grope through the tears looking for light and healing. God hears His faithful child, though sometimes we are too much in grief to see.
“For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous and His ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against those doing evil.” (I Peter 3:12)
“Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth His will, him He heareth.” (John 9:31)
“He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.” (Psalms 147:3)
“In another of the Hallelujah Psalms that begin and end the same way – “Praise ye the Lord” – the poet mentions a number of reasons for praising God; one of which is, “He healeth the broken in heart.” Only those who have languished with broken hearts, eased by God’s healing balm, can fully appreciate this as one of the most praiseworthy blessings.
The text refers to primarily to the healing God administered to those whose hearts were crushed and broken in their long captivity. He fortified their courage and dried their tears during their stay, and gave them complete comfort by returning them to their native soil. However, the language is general in describing a characteristic of God – it is His nature to heal the broken-hearted among His people.
When sorrow invades the mind, when trouble vexes the spirit, when the heart is saddened, we may turn to God for the remedy. Read His remedial, therapeutic Scriptures, filled with direction and promise. Trust Him. For there has never been a tear He couldn’t dry, nor an aching heart He couldn’t heal.” ~ Leroy Brownlow
“The Lord is night unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.” (Psalms 34:17)
“He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.” (Psalms 147:3
“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, Thou wilt not despise.” (Psalms 51:17)
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27)
“The only one who can heal your broken heart is not the one who broke it, but the One who made it….” ~ Unknown
