The real things haven’t changed

At the bottom of this page is a quote I have always loved.  It was written by Laura Ingalls Wilder.  It has much truth and I wanted to share it with you.  It is a reminder of those values, truths, courage, and honesty on which to build our lives as we journey towards the next life to be with Him.  They have stood the test of time, for they came from His Word.

The real things — real values — have not changed.  Truth will always be truth and God’s Word will not return unto Him void.  When our lives are based upon truth, the foundation stands sure.  A life built on a rock withstands the storms of life; conversely, lives built upon sand will not stand.  Values today will still be values tomorrow.

“So shall My Word be that goes forth out of My mouth:  it shall not return unto Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”  Isaiah 55:11

“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of Mine and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:  And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house:  and it fell not:  for it was founded upon a rock.”      Matthew 7:24-25

“And every one that heareth these sayings of Mine and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:  And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house:  and it fell:  and great was the fall of it.”      Matthew 7:26-27

“It is still best to be honest and truthful for “Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool”    Proverbs 19:1

“Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.”   II Corinthians 8:21

“Lying lips are abomination to the Lord:  but they that deal truly are His delight.”  Proverbs 12:22

We cannot fight truth and win. Truth is sometimes slow getting to its destination, but carries much weight when it arrives.  Winston Churchill has commented wisely regarding truth.

“The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end; there it is.”

In the end line up with the truth for truth’s sake and for your sake as well.

For a happier, more contented life, learn to be content and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.  If you look closely you will find the most simple of things give you greatest pleasure.  Glorious sunrises and sunsets.  A soft rain, snow, children’s laughter, a good meal, hot coffee when you come in from the cold and friends to share these pleasures of life.  So many blessings come our way and we become too busy to notice, so slow your pace and take notice of all God has blessed you with daily.

“Not that I speak in respect of want:  for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.”     Philippians 4:11

“And having food and clothing let us be with these things content.”       I Timothy 6:8

In everything give thanks:  for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”      I Thessalonians 5:18

God give us courage that we may not turn coward before life’s difficulties…. may we never bow to failure when things go wrong.  Let it be viewed as set back and have courage once more to face tomorrow, for He is with us.  Lift your head and walk with faith and vision while trusting in Him.

“Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.  For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green;  and shall not be careful in the year of drought. Neither shall cease from yielding fruit.”    Jeremiah 17:7-8

“The real things haven’t changed.  It is still best
to be honest and truthful:
to make the most of what we have:
to be happy with simple pleasures and
have courage when things go wrong.”        ~ Laura Ingalls Wilder
