Unsound thinking has an extremely high price ta

Logic is in rare supply today.  The quotations below are based upon Biblical truths.  Most of us use them every day in descriptions of various situations.  I ‘m sure you will recognize most of them and have said them yourself at one time or the other.

“Example is the best precept.”

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”   Matthew 5:16

“Be ye followers of Me, even as I also am of Christ.”   I Corinthians 11:1

“Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample”   Philippians 3:17

“For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.”   John 13:15

“Do nothing without a regard to consequences.”

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked:  for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.  For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life.”    Galatians 6:7-8

“Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same.”   Job 4:8

“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom.  For the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”    Luke 6:38

“Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground:  for it is time to seek the Lord, till He come and rain righteousness upon you.  Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies:  because thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of mighty men.”    Hosea 10:12-13

“Better beans and bacon in peace, than cakes in fear.”

“Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.”      Proverbs 15:17

“It is best to prepare for the days of necessity.”

“She is not afraid of the snow for her household:  for all her household are clothed with scarlet.”     Proverbs 31:21

“Union gives strength.”

“Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.  For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow:   but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.”    Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

“And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”   Ecclesiastes 4:12

“Be content with your life.”

“Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have:  for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”    Hebrews 13:5

“Not that I speak in respect of want:  for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.”    Philippians 4:11

“But godliness with contentment is great gain.”   I Timothy 6:6

“Outside show is a poor substitute for inner worth.”

“Favour is deceitful and beauty is vain:  but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.”    Proverbs 31:30

“But the Lord said unto Samuel on the height of his stature; because I have refused him:  for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh upon the heart.”     I Samuel 16:7

“Self-conceit may lead to self-destruction.”

“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”   Proverbs 16:18

“Evil companions bring more hurt than profit.”

“Be not deceived:  evil communications corrupt good manners.”       I Corinthians 15:33

There are many, many more of these maxims which are based upon Scripture.  Too many to mention here, and we hear them often not thinking where they came from.  They came from the mind of God, His Word.  May we apply all of His truth to our lives.

“There is so much illogical thinking today.  Some is about as ridiculous as a man trying to drink the ocean dry, or rid the ocean of sharks and a minnow seine.  Logic is the mother of all arts and safeguard of society’s sanity.  Disregard it and you will pay the price.  Unsound thinking has an extremely high price tag.  Many of the wise sayings are nothing but worded logic.   And the art of being wise is the art of perceiving the logical.   It is plain common sense.  Shape your life by logic.  The best place to get it is the Bible.  Read it to be wise.”     ~ Leroy Brownlow

“Think of three things, whence you came, where you are going, and to Whom you must account.”      ~ Ben Franklin
