I came across a quotation the other day which had me thinking. I disagreed with it and changed the wording. “Responsibility belongs to ourselves and no one else.” Each has their own responsibility. We will stand before God as an individual for all we have done in this life.
I talked about this with a friend about some troubles they were having within the family and their wayward children. However, they are not children, but adults. The following are some questions we all need to ask ourselves. It takes diligence, persistence and study of God’s Word to keep us on the right track. When we spend time with Him we will be thinking on our ways and watching all of the areas of our lives to make sure we are in alignment with Him.
Who am I around?
“Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.” I Corinthians 15:33
“Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment:” Exodus 23:2
What am I doing to me?
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:2
What am I reading?
“The book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Joshua 1:8
What am I saying?
“But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.” James 3:8-10
Where am I going?
“Now therefore fear the Lord, and serve Him in sincerity and in Truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the Lord. And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:14-15
What am I thinking?
“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Philippians 4:8
“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” Proverbs 4:23
What am I becoming?
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16
No matter what the world says, there are two choices. Right or Wrong. The Broad Way or the Narrow Way. Good or Evil. The choice is up to you.
Is that choice okay?
“Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It’s not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make. Period.” ~ Unknown
