What are our investments in this world?  And are we placing more emphasis in our investments on earth than a spiritual investment in heaven?

These thoughts came to me while driving to services this week.  The weather was stormy and we were under a tornado watch during services.  Things can and do change in the blink of an eye, and I wondered how many were as I, thinking once more how temporal this life really is and how we can be called into eternity at any moment.  We are not guaranteed our next breath.  We know these truths, but somehow they are pushed into the future and we try not to think about them, at least until someone close to us dies.  Then we are forced to think about our own lives.

I thought of this again as I entered my Bible class.  A little boy told me he didn’t like Bible class because it is not any fun.  I asked him what he usually did on Lord’s Day.  He told me he normally does not attend services.  He was quick to tell me he was learning to rope, ride horses, and learning how to be a bronc rider on the weekends.

In time I pray this young man’s parents will see the importance of spiritual instruction in the life of this young man.

“And ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath:  but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.”   (Ephesians 6:4)
